Success happens when performance, simplicity, and value meet.

FEIG Electronics Inc. is an innovative leader in intelligent electronic system solutions, always striving for improvement. This attention to detail inspires new products and the development of partnerships that enable ease of implementation.

The Identify Podcast shares stories from the people that make it all happen.

In today’s episode, Sascha Brueck, field applications engineer at FEIG Electronics, joins us to dive into software development kits (SDKs), an excellent example of the superb customer support FEIG offers alongside their RFID solutions.

FEIG’s SDK is designed for system and application integrators and third-party product developers to integrate FEIG readers and all of their functionality into customers’ software solutions.

In efforts to keep pace with the rapidly evolving technology, FEIG’s SDK is ever-evolving, continually improving the ease of implementation for customers.

FEIG’s SDK GEN3 includes:

  • Common high-level API for all ID HF and UHF readers
  • Manager classes for detecting readers at each communication port UART, USB, LAN, or BLE
  • Support for all working modes of all readers
  • Support for ISO 14443, ISO 15693, ISO 18000-3m3, and EPC Class1 Gen2
  • Easy-to-use APIs for Transponder chips or RFID standards with specific TagHandler classes
  • Easy-to-use API for Secure Access Modules (SAM) with SmartCardHandler class
  • Data queues decouple reader events from app notifications
  • Thread-safe design for queue access
  • Manage reader configuration with XML files
  • Manage firmware updates with XML files
  • Log support for reader-host communication
  • Support for Windows, Linux, Embedded Linux, Raspberry PI, Android, iOS
  • Support for .NET Framework 4.8, .NET 5.0, and .NET 6.0
  • Support for multiple Hardware platforms: Intel and ARM, both 32- and 64-Bit

With benefits including:

  • Accelerated time to market
  • Always up-to-date with new RFID standards
  • Fast integration of any reader into your software
  • Easy control of all readers on a network
  • Identical API for C++, C#, Java, and, facilitates project and platform migrations
  • Sample code available
  • Technical support

The optimized third-generation SDK offers modernized and identical Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) supporting the most common programming languages, such as C ++, Java, NET5, and C#, to facilitate project and platform migrations.

The browser-based documentation includes numerous programming examples as ready-to-use code in a constantly expanding sample library. As a result, development times are shortened, and projects benefit from quick implementation.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is also supported in this SDK and has been expanded to include bidirectional communication options for FEIG’s newer products, such as the HyWEAR compact.
